On June 24, the NECBC was pleased to co-present with TD Bank a webinar addressing the current economic outlook in the U.S. and Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. The presenter was Beata Caranci, Chief Economist and SVP for TD Bank Group. Ms. Caranci provided an economic and financial update, focusing on key market trends, the impact of the pandemic on the economy and the outlook for recovery. The current economic downturn is shaped by certain themes, such as persistent low interest rates, labor market scars, weak government finances, and weak business investment. “The economic scars [are] larger than the duration of the shock,” she noted. We are pleased to note that 250 people participated in this event.

Welcoming remarks were provided by Sheryl McQuade, Regional President, Northern New England, TD Bank, and Jon Sorenson, President of the NECBC. Steve Webb, Regional President, Southern New England and Upstate New York, TD Bank, provided closing remarks.

It was a timely and informative event and our thanks to Ms. Caranci and TD.
